Over the next 10 years, LCRI will become the leading authority on interdisciplinary research to understand how Lake Chelan and surrounding ecosystems are impacted by local and regional stresses. The Institute will establish and manage the needed infrastructure to enable and lead such research, support K-12 and higher education on environmental topics, and lead technical outreach to the public and the scientific community.
Goals
Support lake stewardship by collection of key water quality data regularly in collaboration with local and state governmental organizations to ensure that we have the complete, unbiased, long-term data we need to protect the lake.
Explore Lake Chelanand its watershed through basic research and education, heightening awareness of the lake’s value and unique character
Understand the underlying hydrodynamic and biological processes that control the lake’s water quality as informed by a digital model and database for the lake that are enduring and accessible for lake management
